Avant-Garde is an Attitude: A Cross Disciplinary Study Looking Beyond The Canon is a research project investigating the major avant-garde eras throughout time, focusing specifically on those eras that have been excluded from the traditional cannon of design. Created during my time in UAL’s BA (Hons) Graphic Design program, this project consists of a series of 8 posters along with an informational pamphlet and a written piece. Inspired by various works from each era, every poster relates back to a different avant-garde community and their belief system. This project intends to shine light on important narratives that have been unjustly ignored.
